Identifying Singularities through Wavelet Maximum Modulus and Lipschitz Exponents

EE-274 (Spring Semester 2009)
Introduction to Wavelets & Filter Banks (3 credit hours)

This is the home page for course EE-274

Prerequisite: EE-171. Which means, a working knowledge of Fourier analysis. We will go over the basic DSP concepts in the first two lectures.

Course Goals: To understand why and when Fourier analysis fails and why and when wavelets are better. To introduce wavelets and wavelet properties in a mathematically rigorous way. To use wavelets in many practical applications with real data. To introduce multiscale analysis.

Changes to EE-274, Spring 2009: As in the past, basic theory and methods of wavelet analysis will be presented. There will be more applications and simulations followed by the related analysis. Material on multiscale analysis has been added.
