Moldering Privies
For waste management at Shelter
locations we have been using moldering privies which so far require
very little maintenace compared to the pit privy that needs to be
relocated every 5 years. The open air allows bacteria to breakdown the
waste, and odor is greatly reduced. Using a double bin design, when the
first bin is full the privy may be moved over the empty bin. The full
bin is allowed to keep decomposing for a few years before emptying.
