Outreach

WAMMIE partners with the Outreach Office to attract students at younger ages through the following programs:

• UVM/GIV Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science Summer Institute for high school students
• Partnership with the Girls Scouts of Vermont
• Engineers Week Activities for elementary, middle and high school students
• MATHCOUNTS for middle school students
• UVM Design TASC (Technology And Science Connection) Competition
• Mathematics Institute for High School Students

Pre-college and Undergraduate Recruitment

WAMMIE partners with the UVM Admissions Office to conduct an array of activities in order to increase the participation of women and multicultural students:

• Fall and Spring Visitations Weekends
• High Schools and college fairs recruitment activities
• Participate in Partnership Programs with high schools in underserved areas (Christopher Columbus HS, High School for Math, Science & Engineering @ City College, HS for Environmental Studies)
• Participation in national organizations’ conferences and recruiting opportunities: SWE, NSBE, SHPE, AISES

Graduate Recruitment

WAMMIE partners with faculty and other organizations to ensure that students have access to graduate and professional programs.

• National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Science and Engineering (GEM)
• Assistantships/Fellowships through departments
• Women in Engineering Programs Advocate Network (WEPAN)
• Alliances for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (AGEP)
